Contrary to reports out there that the Finance Directorate of the University of Ghana has not released funds for the Students’ Representative Council to fund it’s activities after its budget was approved by the General Assembly, the Deputy Finance Director Mr. Bright Obeng Yeboah has rubbished those claims saying the SRC’s budget is yet to reach his outfit.
Speaking at an open forum session organized by the SRC as part of the Week Celebration and upon a question posed by one Derrick Abotsi,a student, about the lateness in releasing funds for the SRC to fund it’s activities, he mentioned that the budget which was supposed to be approved by the Dean of Students had not landed on its table yet for action to be taken on it.
He says he since asked the SRC president herself, Miss Esinam Afi Seade why the budget has not reached the finance directorate for them to release the funds and the response was that the budget will get to the directorate tomorrow, 8th March, 2017.
This is contrary to the claims made by some SRC committee heads that funding for the SRC Week is locked up and has not been released to them.
The forum was attended by almost all those who mattered in the management of the University – Pro Vice Chancellor Students and Academic Affairs, Pro Vice Chancellor ORID, the University Registrar, Acting Dean of Students Affairs, PROVOST of the various colleges as well as the Deputy Director of the Finance Directorate.
