We Will Strictly Audit Student Leaders – Vice Chancellor

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana has issued a Stern warning to the leaders of the Students Representative Council (SRC) as well as the Junior Common Room (JCR) that the school will strictly audit the accounts of the bodies they lead to avoid misappropriation and embezzlement of funds.
The Vice Chancellor was speaking at a forum organized by the SRC as part if it’s Week Celebration to answer to certain pertinent questions and concerns of Students of the University.
He mentioned that the University will follow and adhere to strict guidelines of the Financial Management Act in releasing funds to student bodies as well as auditing them after those funds are used to ensure that there is value for money as well as accountability. He added that student leaders will be made to account for any pesewa they spend.
He further added that the University will not hesitate to withhold the certificate of any leader who is found to have misappropriated funds While in office until those funds are properly accounted for.
The forum was attended by almost all those who mattered in the management of the University – Pro Vice Chancellor Students and Academic Affairs, Pro Vice Chancellor ORID, the University Registrar, Acting Dean of Students Affairs, PROVOST of the various colleges as well as the Deputy Director of the Finance Directorate.
