KNUST Signs MoU with Hohai University

MoU with Hohai University

A delegation from Hohai University (HHU) has paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor, Professor Obiri-Danso to strengthen relations with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). A partnership agreement which allows for the easy movement of students and staff from one university to the other for purposes of teaching and learning, research collaboration and exchange, development of a joint curriculum which will meet institutional requirements of both universities was signed. The initial target would be in the area of Harbour, Coastal and Offshore Engineering.

HHU would also offer KNUST two graduate scholarships every year for students and young faculty of KNUST to earn their graduate degrees at HHU. The terms of the agreement shall become effective for a term of five years and the financial arrangements of the partnership shall be determined on the basis of specific projects and activities and will depend on the availability of funds.

Mr. Chen Hongsheng, Associate Director of International Office, Hohai University, expressed his excitement at the opportunity given them to visit KNUST and strengthen the collaboration between the two universities.

Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, Vice-Chancellor, KNUST, was appreciative of the number of scholarships being awarded to the University. He also sought for the extension of scholarships to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences especially the Business School.

Professor Samuel Nii Odai, Centre Leader, RWESCK, said that the whole idea of the partnership was to spread collaboration from the College of Engineering to other colleges of the university. He proposed exploring port management and increase in the number of scholarships offered to the university.
