KNUST/SU/A&M College

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and its educational partners have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Southern State University and A&M College of Los Angeles, United States of America. The partnership will focus on developing an operational plan to include objectives, institutional resources, support, performance measures and targets designed to track progress against agreed objectives between KNUST and selected historically Black public land-grant universities (1890s).

The partnership is on the theme: “Forging Partnerships between U.S. Historically Black Land-Grant Universities (1890s) & World Class Universities”.

According to the terms of the understanding, both parties will develop fields in creating a seamless communication network, replicating successful academic programs, creating dual degree programs and increasing the intake of PhD candidates.

Both parties will share best practices in producing human capital in Science Technology, Engineering, Agriculture and Mathematics (STEAM). They will further create bilateral faculty and student exchanges as well as jointly-sponsored research projects.

Professor Kwasi Obiri Danso, the Vice-Chancellor, stated that KNUST had always welcomed partnerships especially in areas of enriching staff and internationalization. Though the University had several partnerships with American universities, the Southern University partnership was welcome and hoped both parties would benefit.

Prof. Obiri-Danso noted that KNUST was ready to ensure the success of the partnership.
