MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMME
REGULAR
Higher National Diploma (HND) in Medical Laboratory Technology
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
1/ SSSCE, WASSCE or Equivalent
Core subjects and minimum grades: Credits (WASSCE A1-C6/ SSSCE A-D) in three (3) subjects, English, Mathematics and Integrated Science.
Elective subjects and minimum grades: Credits (WASSCE A1-C6/ SSSCE A-D) in three (3) science elective subjects (Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry)
WASSCE: An aggregate score of Thirty Six (36) or better.
SSSCE: An aggregate score of Twenty Four (24) or better.
2/Mature Applicants
Age: 25 – 35
Holder of Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology Or have passes in three (3) core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science) and three (3) Elective subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics ) in SSSCE, WASSCE or Equivalent
Must have at least two years working experience in medical laboratory
Must pass an Entrance Examination
DURATION OF PROGRAMME
Three Years (36 Months) – Six (6) Semesters
RESIDENTIAL STATUS
The MLTD programme is purely RESIDENTIAL ONLY and no NON-RESIDENTIAL status.
CERTIFICATE IN MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMME
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
1/ SSSCE, WASSCE or Equivalent
Core subjects and minimum grades: Credits (WASSCE A1-C6/ SSSCE A-D) in three (3) subjects, English, Mathematics and Integrated Science.
Elective subjects and minimum grades: At least passes in three (3) elective subjects .
(Pass: SSSCE: A-E, WASSCE: A1-E8)
WASSCE: An aggregate score of Forty Two (42) or better.
SSSCE: An aggregate score of Twenty Seven (27) or better.

Must have at least two years working experience in medical laboratory

REASONS FOR MEDICAL LABORATORY WORKERS TO OPT FOR SANDWICH PROGRAMMES

To bring academic training to the doorsteps of medical laboratory workers.
Applicants can be schooling whilst working simultaneously.

You can maintain your job for two consecutive years of schooling.

Most of the academic assessments are on the job training.
Ability to self-finance your education whilst working.

COURSE STRUCTURE
The programme duration for both certificate and diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology shall be two (2) years comprising 10 weeks of intensive campus course work every year. The 10 weeks is inclusive of end of sandwich course examination.
Students will undertake supervised practical attachment at their own hospital facility.
PERIOD OF TRAINING
The period of training is scheduled between July and September every year beginning in 2014. Admission forms can be obtained from Admissions Office or online.
SELECTION PROCEDURE AND CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Applicants buy admission forms and submit completed forms to the Registrar’s Office or online by March 2015.
Practical-based entrance examination is scheduled in April-May 2015.
Admission letters will be issued to successful applicants in May-June 2015.
Payment of fees in June 2015.
School re-opens for the sandwich programmes on Monday 6^th July, 2015

SANDWICH MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY (MLDP) – DIPLOMA
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Holder of Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology
Holder of Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology from institutions accredited by Allied Health Professions Council.

DURATION OF PROGRAMME
Two Years/ Two Sandwich Courses
RESIDENTIAL STATUS
The sandwich programme is very intensive and is purely RESIDENTIAL ONLY.

SANDWICH MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY (MLCP) – CERTIFICATE
The Sandwich programme for Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLTCP) is PURELY for applicants with working experience or bench practice in Medical Laboratory Technology.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Applicant must have at least two years working experience in medical laboratory technology and must pass an Practical Entrance Examination.
