Nominations were closed yesterday for the filing of nominations for the various SRC executive portfolios and 7 candidates were able to successfully file for the Presidency with two each filing for the Offices of Secretary and Treasurer.
Daniel Otting Awuah, one of the front-runners in the lead up to this election has chosen to partner Moses Baafi Acheampong into the election that will be held on the 11th April.
Yesterday, Derrick Ayirebi Acquah Schandorf, also a front-runner announced Asante Okyere Clinton as his running mate into the election. Alfred Kumi is also running with Emmanuel Boadi.
Gerald Daakyehehe Arhin, the only visually impaired student in the race has also decided to run with one Adams Mubarak. Pascal Agbesi Harford has also announced Billton Lartey as his running mate with David Johnson also choosing Asamoah Godsway as his Vice presidential nominee with Amoako Sylvester going for the only female running mate Kezia Deguenon.
For the Office of Secretary, it becomes the affair of two women as has been the convention with Dylis-Judith Fafa Esi Mensah ready to battle it out with Janet Maame Serwaa Arkoful Awotwe as both successfully filed their nominations.
Ethel Nyarkoa Donkor and Effah Emmanuel Opoku will also battle it out for the Office Treasurer.
Meanwhile the Electoral Commission has indicated that successfully filing their nominations does not necessarily mean qualified and as such will publish the names of qualified aspirants after subjecting their candidature to Chapter 6, Article 30 Clause 1 and 2 of the SRC constitution to establish their eligibility or otherwise for their respective offices.
