Gabriel Opare, Legonconnect.com writer has made UG proud by winning UNICEF’s best delegate award at US-MUN 2017.
Last Saturday, university students representing various countries around the world met at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology for the University Students Model United Nations Conference 2017. This MUN followed Ghana International model United Nations Conference held at the University of Ghana last January.
During the conference, University students played roles as delegates of UN member states to debate on issues of international concerns as well as formulate resolutions to put them in check. Three committees of the UN met at the US-MUN 2017; ECOFIN, UNICEF and Security Council.

Delegations from KNUST, Ashesi University, Catholic University, Presbyterian College, University of Ghana and University of Education, Winneba were all represented at the session.
At the end of the conference, a vote was cast to crown the best delegate of UNICEF. The vote tied the Gambian delegate of Zambia from Ashesi University with our own Gabriel Opare. After run-off however, Opare of University of Ghana and LegonConnect was confidently elected as best delegate of UNICEF with his biggest rival at the conference; the delegate of Zambia winning an Honorary Mention Award.

Well done Gabriel Opare; another feather in UG’s cap!
