A former student of the University of Ghana and also a former member of the General Assembly of the SRC and one very astute social commentator, Kofi Opare Hagan thinks the injunction placed on the Vetting and the lawsuit in general filed by disqualified Alfred Kumi is much ado about nothing.
Commenting on Maxwell Amofia, a host of Campus Exclusive on campus based Radio Univers‘ post on Facebook he opined that since the decision to disqualify him was from the Dean “.. then it’s final. Only a law court or CHRAJ can stop it.”
He further adds that “The word of the Dean of Students on any matter affecting students except those specifically legislated by the school or Parliament, is final.”
He again reiterated that “.. it is curious for students to attempt to preside over a decision taken by the Dean. The Dean is the ‘father of all Students’. How can you sit over a decision taken by your father?”, he quarried.
He conclusively submits that “the Dean is in loco parentis”. The reason why all Students activities pass through him.
This comes on the back of a disqualification against the candidature of Alfred Ababio Kumi, a UG SRC presidential aspirant who has further filed a suit with the Judicial Board of the SRC and successfully placed an interim injunction on the Vetting of SRC executive portfolio aspirants.
