KNUST Partners Unibank in Revenue Mobilisation

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has decided to partner UniBank Ghana Limited in billing, pick up and collection services. The two institutions officially signed a memorandum of understanding to this effect on Tuesday, 25th October, 2016.

Unibank in Revenue Mobilisation

According to the agreement, KNUST has mandated Unibank to use the accounts of the university for the collection of fees from patients and students. KNUST has authorized UniBank to provide a billing platform and accept all payments effected by customers in settlement of bills due to KNUST and deposit same in the account of KNUST.

The service which shall be available on a 24-hour basis on all days of the week will involve some integration between the billing platform provided by UniBank and the KNUST system to enable payments to be accepted by the system. Patrons of KNUST’s medical facilities – the main hospital and the Students’ Clinic – will see teller cubicles mounted by UniBank for the collection of all monies due KNUST.

In a related development, UniBank has again agreed to issue multipurpose identity cards to staff and students and to provide electronic – online and mobile – and bulk payment systems.

Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, Vice-Chancellor, indicated that UniBank had supported the university in diverse ways and was furthering the existing relationship by aiding the university in resource mobilization at its health facilities by officially signing the MoU.

Dr. Kwabena Duffuor Junior, Chief Operating Officer of UniBank, stated that the bank would continue to offer the needed assistance to promote education and training the requisite manpower for the country. He stated that in view of the relationship his outfit was desirous of extending its financial services to the university and pledged the bank’s dedication to the agreement.

Mr. Yaw Nimo Baffour, the Finance Officer of KNUST, was hopeful that the agreement would help reduce administrative cost and increase the university’s income.

Professor Kwasi Obiri Danso and Mr. Ben O. Andoh, the Acting Registrar, signed for KNUST and Dr. Duffuor signed for UniBank.
