PANKRATION; THE SPORT OF MANY CRUEL STORIES

The Greeks love sports, as other cultures murder innocent children as sacrificial items to their gods, the Greeks decided to be wise. To defuse the senselessness, they would murder innocent children as sacrifices but will be smart enough to introduce games that would distract the populace of the insanity of belonging to such a sadistic society; and it worked.
What was popular among the Greek sportsmen was Pankration, a kind of ancient mixed martial arts with no rules that was included in the Olympic games. Two fellows at liberty to use any fighting skill or style they want will lock into combat until one taps out. Apart from gauging out one’s eyes, biting or hitting below the belt, one was free to get sinister.
As a result some of the combatants registered their merciless attributes with nail cruel moves that will make the hair on your hands stand on edge; and I’m speaking rather literally. Sostratos, a famed Pankration fighter was nicknamed Mr Fingertips because he brutally broke the fingers of his opponents at the start of the fight leaving them rather vulnerable. After which he would go ahead and unleash the agony of hell on them; of course if they weren’t wise enough to submit.
Perhaps a more legendary figure in Pankration is the famed Arrhachion who killed himself while in combat with a rival. While Arrhachion was being ruthlessly strangled between a pair of thighs, he begun callously dislocating his opponents toes one by one until he tapped out leaving Arrhachion the winner. Unfortunately he couldn’t celebrate much. There and then Arrhachion died from suffocation and became the first Olympian to win a combat while dead. His opponent will become the first Olympian to throw in the towel during a fight with a dead man.
