Microfinance operation in the Brong Ahafo region will be put under stringent control as the Central Bank inaugurates its new office complex in the region.
Former Central Bank Governor Dr. Kofi Wampah under whose tenure the building was constructed officially commissioned the ultra-modern edifice on June 30, 2016.
It was during his tenure that the region witnessed a debacle in the microfinance sector, resulting in many Ghanaians losing millions of cedis to some microfinance companies such as DKM, God is Love Fun Club and others in the region.
The commissioning of the building was done under heavy security presence in anticipation of any agitation from aggrieved customers. The move is part of efforts to upgrade the efficiency of the Central Bank and better monitor financial activities in the region.
The current Governor Dr Nasiru Issahaku and the second Deputy Governor Dr. Johnson P. Asiama were at the commissioning event.
