The programme is being developed in conjunction with ‘Learning Equality’ – a leading not-for-profit provider of open-source educational technology solutions, and the Khan Academy.

Teaching materials such as textbooks, reference books, past examination papers, assessment worksheets and classroom aids will be available to facilitate teaching and learning.

In Ghana a wide range of basic to advanced learning materials will be available online irrespective of one’s location.
According to the CEO of Vodafone Ghana, Yolanda Cuba, the development is also directly in line with Vodafone’s strategy of leading the digitalization agenda in Ghana.

“The instant classrooms platform is one of the unique avenues we are adopting to digitally touch the lives of every youth in the country.

“Now the kicker here is that the platform has been zero-rated on our network, to offer a cost-effective alternative and can be updated instantly to ensure students receive the very latest information and insights in the classroom and at home.”

The educational resources provided under Instant Schools include subjects such as mathematics, the arts, business and science courses. The materials are comparable in quality, range and depth to those available in schools in the developed world.

Vodafone is in discussions with the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service for the next phase of the initiative. This will have specific sections that support Ghana’s educational curriculum.
