The University of Mines and Technology announces for the information of the general public that applications are open for the admission of prospective applicants into various undergraduate programmes for the 2020/2021 academic year. All prospective applicants are advised to visit the University’s website www.umat.edu.gh and carefully read all relevant information and guidelines before applying.
As a policy, the University admits applicants from all races and nationalities, irrespective of their religious, cultural, social or ethnic persuasions. There is no minimum age limit for admission to any of the approved programmes of study of the University. All Bachelor degree programmes take a duration of 8 semesters (4 years) to complete.

This is a one-year (2-semester) certificate programme for applicants from non-English speaking countries only. Applicants who complete this programme and also have International Baccaleureate (IB) in science would be eligible to apply for the degree and diploma programmes.
- Certificate Programme in Small-Scale Mining and Quarry Administration
The certificate programme in Small Scale Mine and Quarry Administration is a one-year (2-semester) programme whose rationale is to respond to the needs of personnel in the minerals extraction industry especially the small/medium scale sector mines and quarries in Ghana.

Grade Aggregate System for WASSCE and SSSCE Holders
UMaT uses the new grading system of WASSCE for the selection of candidates and in the system, grades aggregate of 36 is the minimum entry requirement of UMaT. The following table shows this new grading system and the SSSCE equivalent grades.
