In a move that has surprised most pundits, Public Relations Officer of the University of Ghana SRC, Mr. Eleazer Fordjour Quayson has survived what would have been fertile grounds to have him removed from office.
The outspoken PRO was recently cited for contempt against the Judicial Board of the SRC over some comments he passed on the ruling of the Judicial Board, in the aftermath of the near conclusive run off of this year’s SRC elections.
The slap of GHS 700.00 levied against him didn’t seem one he would pay, given the fact that he had almost completed his tenure of service. Intelligence gathered reliably suggests that as at 6:00pm of Saturday, 5th May, 2018, the stipulated deadline for the payment of the fine, Mr. Quayson had still not paid. This was after he had secured an extension from the Judicial Board, a grace that was extended till Tuesday, May 8, 2018.
While it remains unclear whether he paid the fine or not, it has been revealed that he was more than once ripe for removal from office at the very start of this administration, on grounds of some inconsistencies in the procedure with which he was appointed, and other matters with which a decision that was reached was appropriately overturned by the Appeals Board of the SRC.
With less than 3 weeks to the end of this administration, it remains unknown, what new thing would surface against the PRO who most students passed as the Best Committee Head of the year owing to his innovations with the creation of the first ever SRC App, SRC logo and how effective the SRC communication was delivered with him as the head.
