UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Entry requirements for a Undergraduate degree Programme
These requirements are to be met in addition to the other programme-specific requirements. All applicants should meet the requirements before applying.
WASSCE/SSSCE:
Applicants should have credit passes in six (6) subjects with an overall aggregate of 36/24 at the WASSCE/SSSCE respectively.
Three of the six subjects should be core subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies and three must be in relevant electives.
For purposes of admission, a credit pass in:
- WASSCE means A1 – C6
- SSSCE means A – D
General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level:
Applicants should, in addition to credit passes in five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level subjects (including English and Mathematics), have three (3) passes in the relevant subjects at the Advanced Level.
General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE):
Applicants should have credit passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects including English Language and Mathematics plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE):
Applicants should have credit passes in five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level subjects (including English and Mathematics) and three (3) passes in the relevant subjects at the Advanced Level.
International Baccalaureate (IB):
Applicants should have a minimum of grade 4 at the Higher Level in three (3) subjects relevant to the programme of choice (minimum of grade 5 for Health and Allied Sciences). Applicants should, in addition, have a minimum of grade 4 in English/Literature and Mathematics (SL).
American High School Grade 12 Examinations.
Applicants should have a Final Grade point of 3.0.

UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
Candidates seeking admission to PhD programmes must:
- Have an MPhil or research MA/MEd/MSc/MBA degree in an appropriate field of study from a recognised university.
- Have MA/Med/MSc/MBA degree in an appropriate field, with CGPA of 3.5 or better with not more than grade C+. Also, have scored B+ or better in Research Methods course.
- Submit an official transcript of academic record.
- Submit at least three referee reports, one of whom must be from a former Lecturer.
- Submit a 3-5 page proposal on intended area of study including a working bibliography
- Satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the College/Faculty/School/ Department (e.g. selection interview)
Master of Philosophy/Commerce/Nursing (MPhil/MCom/MN) Programmes
Candidates seeking admission to MPhil/MCom/MN degree programmes must:
- Have obtained a good first degree (at least a second class division) in an appropriate field of study from a recogniseduniversity/analogous institution.
- Submit an official transcript of academic record.
- Submit at least two referee reports, one of whom must be from a former Lecturer.
- Submit a 2-3 page proposal on intended area of study including references.
- Pass a selection interview.
- Satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the College/Faculty/School/ Department (e.g. selection interview)
Master of Arts/Science/Education/Business Administration (MA/MSc/MEd/MBA) Programmes
Candidates seeking admission to MA/MSc/MEd/MBA degree programmes must:
- Have obtained a good first degree (at least a second class division) in an appropriate field of study from a recogniseduniversity/analogous institution.
- Submit an official transcript of academic record.
- Submit names of two referees, one of whom must be a former Lecturer.
- Satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the College/Faculty/School/ Department.
