St Ambrose Nursing School is located in Verulam, Durban which is a suburb in KwaZulu-Natal, a province of South Africa, a country on the continent of Africa. The Nursing Department is located in the Center for Health Sciences Education on the west campus of Genesis Medical Center. Students gain valuable experience using advanced electronic data and patient record data management systems.
Clinicals and rotations provide experiences in real health care environments. Students are exposed to clinical areas including obstetrics, pediatrics, medical surgical, mental health and community health. Standardized testing prep is woven into the curriculum. Throughout the program, students complete national competency exams to determine acquired knowledge and licensure exam readiness. All students are members of the local, state and national Student Nurses Association. St. Ambrose is one of the few schools in Iowa with 100 percent membership. The curriculum includes a special emphasis on social justice, health care reform and professional trends, and biomedical ethics.

Apply for Early Decision Placement. Applications will be accepted through December 1 of the student’s senior year.
- Be admitted to St. Ambrose University and apply for admission to the Nursing Program during the student’s sophomore year at St. Ambrose.
Transfer students who have completed prerequisite courses at a different college/university are eligible to apply to the BSN program. Transfer courses may be used to fulfill all or a portion of the prerequisites.
