For every UG SRC election, it will be safe to say that the presidential race commands the most reach and frequency over our virtual communities; Facebook and Whatsapp especially. This year, things haven’t been any different. UG students are so much occupied with the infinite debate on who next will head student government at the premier university that many are still oblivious to the harsh reality that we are most likely to have less fun with the presidential results than with others.
This year’s candidates for the Treasurer and Secretary positions are defensive and brutal in their campaign. They each have formidable political architectures; Bridges and Pentagons for instance which appeal virtually to the same classes of people. Electorates are more uncertain on which Treasurer and/or Secretary hopeful to vote for than the presidential aspirants…which makes the elections all the more captivating.
It will therefore not come as a surprise when the EC pronounces a home run win for the office of president and run-offs each for the offices of Treasurer and Secretary.
