Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul Boafo Induction

Reverend Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, the Protestant Chaplain of KNUST, is the new Administrative Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana (MCG). The Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul K. Boafo was inducted at the Wesley Methodist Church at Adum, Kumasi.

His induction is in accordance with the provisions of the constitution of the Methodist Church, which dictates that ministers thus called and appointed should be inducted into office to officially begin their work. It is to that end that the Church assembled at a solemn service to present the Bishop to God to set a divine seal on his call and appointment.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Boafo was appointed at a conference of representatives held in August this year to serve a six-year term of office beginning from October 1, 2016.

Most Reverend Titus K. Awotwi Pratt, the Presiding Bishop, assisted by other bishops inducted the Administrative Bishop-elect, robed him and presented the insignia of his Episcopal office to him.

In his sermon from Exodus 18:1-26, he entreated him to learn to handle domestic and national affairs at each level, and to ensure the spiritual growth of the church. The Presiding Bishop also charged him to delegate authority and responsibilities to people with skills and talents, and to select good men as deacons. “Persons with skills are required and the right people should be sourced,” he added.

In an exclusive interview with the University Relations Office (URO), Bishop Boafo stated that his new appointment had opened a wider network and a bigger platform to help in the running of the chaplaincy. He believed both the University and the Church stood to gain by his new appointment.

He added that KNUST had shaped him in a number of ways and that his association with KNUST had given him the opportunity, confidence, ideas, networks and experience which he has used to serve the wider world and the church. He used the occasion to thank management, staff, students and past vice-chancellors for the opportunity they gave him to serve.
