The Political Science Students Association of the University of Ghana has thrown it’s weight behind Daniel Otting Awuah, a presidential candidate in this year’s University of Ghana SRC Election and has further recommended him for all members as the election heads into a run off next week.
It Is unclear why this endorsement is coming at this particular point in time after a first election has been held but presidential candidates failing to make the 50%+1 votes cast forcing the election into a second round.
In the first round of the election, Levels, as he is popularly known garnered 1,963 votes representing 47.48% with his fiercest contender Amoako Sylvester Owusu polling 1,742 votes representing 41.73%. The other candidates in that category – Schandorf Ayirebi Acquah, Pascal Hayford Agbesi and Daakyehene Arhin Gerald combined managed a little over 10% of the total valid votes cast.
The endorsement statement signed and countersigned by Susana Clements and Edmund Nkansah, Secretary and president of the association respectively noted that ”Daniel Otting Awuah is very hardworking, he is firm and resolute, very decisive, a good team player, committed to purpose and also a good communicator…”
The run off is scheduled for this week even though the actual day has not been announced by the commission yet and it will be between Daniel Otting Awuah and Sylvester Amoako Owusu.
