North West University Health Sciences, The Faculty of Health Sciences of the North-West University directs its programmes and activities towards the pursuit of relevant knowledge and innovation in health sciences in order to promote and improve the health of the population of South Africa, Africa and the world via education, research, services and community involvement.

Health Sciences Fields of Study:

Human Movement Science

The School of Human Movement Sciences has a vision to be a school of excellence in the development and training of students in the areas of human movement science, biokinetics, recreation, sports science and coaching science, enabling them to be practitioners, leaders and innovators in these applied fields for the people of South Africa and Africa.
The mission of the School of Human Movement Sciences is to produce well-rounded experts in the fields of human movement, sport, health and recreation that will be able to fulfil the needs of these fields within the country and its people

Psychosocial Health

The School comprises of two subject groups, Social Work and Psychology.  Undergraduate teaching involves a wide variety of programs in Psychology and a professional 4 year degree in Social Work.  Postgraduate programs in Social Work involve MSW qualifications in Forensic Practice, Child Protection and Play Therapy.  Students can apply for selection towards post graduate qualifications in Psychology including a BA/BSc Honors in Psychology or MA/MSc in Clinical, Counselling or Research Psychology.  Masters and PhD programs in both Social Work and Psychology are supported by an active research culture and commitment to community service. We strive to teach well-rounded, professional students who can contribute towards the psychosocial health of South Africans through research, clinical practice and service.
