National Service Personnel to receive Over GH₵1,500 allowance this month

The Deputy Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Henry Nana Boakye has disclosed that government has released funds for the payment of allowances due to the 2017/2018 Service Personnel.

He noted that the delay was due to certain assessment the system needed to go through to help eradicate ghost names adding, a rigorous audit must take place before monies are disbursed to the over 100,000 personnel.
“We have to ensure that processes are followed so that we don’t encounter ghost names, also We have more than 100,000 personnel and we needed to do thorough auditing, to make sure those posted to the various institutions are really at post”.
He continued that, the Scheme must make sure their supervisors confirm their attendance at the workplace because the NSS is bent on reducing corruption and ghost names from the list of employees.
The Deputy NSS Director added that management of the scheme could be prosecuted for causing financial loss to the state if they are not able to do all the necessary auditing.
Though he could not emphatically state when the allowance for August, September and October will hit the accounts of Service personnel, he assured that all personnel will receive their allowances for the three months at once as soon as the auditing is completed.
National Service personnel will be paid all three months allowance arrears by next week according to our sources.
