A former deputy communications minister under the erstwhile Jerry John Rawlings government says John Mahama is a better choice for Ghana than flagberaer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

During the 2008 presidential elections, Mr. Amofah threw his weight behind Nana Akufo –Addo having fallen out with the NDC and former President Rawlings. When Akufo-Addo lost, Mr. Amofa went into political hibernation.

Mr. Amofah who is now hoping to return to Parliament for the Abuakwa constituency on the ticket of the NDC said he believes Mr. Mahama is better placed to lead the country than his cousin Akufo Addo.

“I think Mahama will be a better President than Akufo-Addo…he [Mahama] is my [presidential] candidate and I support him,” Mr. Amofah told Bola Ray host of Starr Chat Wednesday on Starr 103.5FM.

The founder of the EGLE party also apoligised for hitting hard at the then candidate John Atta Mills in the lead up to the 2008 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

He, however, revealed that he patched up his relationship the late President before he passed on in 2012.

Profile

Mr. Amofah was born on February 8, 1956. He is a lawyer in good standing and an astute politician.

He was former deputy communication minister under the erstwhile Rawlings government. He also served as a deputy Tourism minister before leaving government.

He founded the now defunct EGLE party in 1992.

He was the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa Central between 1992 and 1996.

He is the CEO of Parking Tickets Busters in the USA. He is also the chief executive officer of Nations Diverse credit in Atlanta, USA, and an attorney at Amofah law firm in Brooklyn, USA.

He is married to a former Miss Ghana. He is also from Kyebi and a relative of the NPP flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo.
