Currently, what the news mill has fed us tastes a bit sour; nonetheless we are going to have to chew on it. Yet another misfortune has unraveled in the timeline of Ghana campus life. This time, the sad and unsettling story of the suicide of an 18 year old student of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science And Technology; Adwoa Anyimadu-Antwi who was daughter of the Member of Parliament of Asante-Akyem constituency; Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi .
On this morn of Friday the 24th, acquaintances opened her hostel door only to be greeted by the lifeless body of the young lady who incomprehensibly cowed to the problems life threw at her and yet was courageous enough to take her own life. Adwoa was discovered hanging on a rope in her hostel room with a suicide note scribbled on a piece of paper by the side.
It read
“Sorry mummy and daddy for not being the girl you want me to be “
The motivation for such a grim endeavor of self-death is unknown although theorists have it pegged somewhere in between the break off of a relationship or the consequence of academically disgruntled behavior. Whatever the truth is, suicide, as has been made certain now isn’t the solution to her problems as although she assumed room temperature, her problems remain. Her grades haven’t changed and her relationships; hopelessly unamended.
