ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR CANDIDATES WITH WASSCE/SSSCE, A’ LEVEL, ABCE/GBCE, MATURE AND EQUIVALENT QUALIFICATIONS   GUIDELINES FOR SELECTING AN UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME

  1. Most first degree Programmes of study are of Four (4) Years duration
    2. Minimum/General Entry Requirements WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS An applicant for admission to a degree Programme in the University must have CREDITS in the THREE WASSCE/SSSCE Core Subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science), and CREDITS in THREE WASSCE/SSSCE Elective Subjects or its equivalent relevant to the chosen Programme with aggregate 24 or better (WASSCE: A1C6/SSSCE A-D) D7, E8 & F9 ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR ADMISSION PURPOSES.

It is worth noting that the THREE CORE SBJECTS are prerequisite for all Programmes of study at our university GENERAL BUSINESS CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION (GBCE) Applicants must have passes in THREE Compulsory Subjects including English Language and passes in THREE Elective Subjects including Business Mathematics.  ADVANCED LEVEL/MATURE APPLICANTS  Applicants must have FIVE credits at the GCE O’ Level including English Language and Mathematics (or its approved equivalent), plus passes in at least TWO subjects at the Advanced Level/Three Credits in the case of mature applicants.  In addition, the applicant must fulfill the appropriate Faculty or Departmental requirements.  ADVANCED BUSINESS CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION (ABCE) Applicants must have passes in THREE Compulsory Subjects plus THREE (3) Optional Subjects relevant to the Programme of study.

 INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB)
COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCES  1.0. WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS  A. BSc. AGRICULTURE B. BSc. POST-HARVEST TECHNOLOGY C. BSc. AGRICULTURAL BIOTECHNOLOGY D. BSc. DAIRY AND MEAT SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY E. BSc. LANDSCAPE DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT
Credits in THREE (3) Elective Subjects with the following combinations: 1. Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics OR 2. General Agriculture, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics       F. BSc. NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT     G. BSc. FOREST RESOURCE TECHNOLOGY   Credit Passes in THREE (3) of the following Elective Subjects: Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics, Biology or General Agriculture.
Applicants with WASSCE/SSSCE Mathematics as one of the Electives must have a strong Biology background.  Diploma Holders with Distinction from KNUST may be eligible to continue up to degree level without a break. Other Diploma holders may be admitted after a minimum of TWO (2) Years Post Diploma field experience.
For (G), Mature Applicants with Certificate in Forestry must have attained the age of 25 years at the time of submitting the Application Forms and a minimum of Two (2) Years post qualification experience in a related field of Natural Resources Management.   Additionally, Applicants must have Five (5) credits at O’ Level including English Language, Mathematics, and Three (3) of the following: Chemistry and Physics, Biology or Additional General Science or General Science.  OR Credit passes in THREE (3) Electives including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Elective Mathematics or General Agriculture. Short-listed applicants must pass an interview.  2.0. ‘A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS  A. BSc. AGRICULTURE B. BSc. POST-HARVEST TECHNOLOGY C. BSc. AGRICULTURAL BIOTECHNOLOGY D. BSc. DAIRY AND MEAT SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY E. BSc. LANDSCAPE DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT F. BSc. AGRIBUSINESS MANAGEMENT
FIVE (5) credits at the O’ Level or equivalent qualification including English Language and Mathematics PLUS THREE passes at the A’ Level or equivalent including Chemistry, Physics and either Biology or Agricultural Science.

  1. BSc NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT H. BSc FOREST RESOURCE TECHNOLOGY FIVE (5) credits at O’ Level including Mathematics and English Language plus THREE (3) A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Physics and any one of the following: Biology, Agricultural Science and Mathematics.  Applicants with Agricultural Science or Mathematics must have a credit in O’ Level Biology.

3.0. MATURE APPLICANTS  Applicants must have attained the age of 25 years at the time of submitting the Application Forms.  EITHER FIVE (5) credits at O’ Level including English Language and Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, OR Applicants must have a Diploma from KNUST or from a recognized institution. OR Credits in WASSCE/SSSCE Core Subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science), plus THREE (3) Electives in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Elective Mathematics or General Agriculture. Short-listed applicants must pass an interview.  BSc. AGRIBUSINESS MANAGEMENT  I. Science  Applicants  with the SSSCE/WASSCE certificate ( Science Option), must in addition to credit in the three core subject (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science), obtain credits in Chemistry plus either Physics, or Mathematics and Biology or General Agriculture.

  1. Business Applicants with the SSSCE/WASSEC certificate (Business Option), must in addition to credits in the three core subjects (English language, Mathematics and Integrated Science), obtain credits in Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Business Mathematics, Costing or Elective Mathematics. Applicants with this combination must have a minimum of C (for SSSCE applicants) and B3 (for WASSCE Applicants) in Integrated Science.

III. General Arts Applicants with the SSSCE/WASSCE certificate (General Arts Option) must in addition to credit in the three core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science), obtain credits in Economics, Geography and Elective Mathematics.
Applicants with this combination must have a minimum of C (for SSSCE applicants) and B3 (for WASSCE Applicants) in Integrated Science. BSc.  AQUACULTURE AND WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT  I. Applicant with the SSSCE/WASSCE certificate (Science Option) must in addition to credit in the three core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Intergraded Science), obtain credits in Chemistry plus either Physics or Mathematics and Biology or General Agriculture and with aggregate 24 or better.

  1. Advance Level/Mature Applicants Applicants must have FIVE (5) credits at the GCE O’ Level including English Language, and Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, plus passes in at least TWO (2) subjects at the Advanced Level. Applicants with Agricultural Science or Mathematics must have a credit in O’ Level Biology.   Mature Applicants must have attained the age of 25 years at the time of submitting the application forms.  III.      Higher National Diploma and Other Diploma Holders  Applicants who have a relevant Diploma with Distinction may be admitted to Year Two (2) of the Programme after successful completion of their National Service. Other categories of relevant Diploma holders may be admitted following Two (2) years Work Experience and subsequent interview or selection examination as may be deemed necessary. HND holders must have met all the requisite passes in English Language, Mathematics and Intergraded Science at GCE O’ Level, WASSCE or equivalent.

COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES
1.0. (a).  BA.  HISTORY   1.1. WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS   Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective Subjects including History or Government and any of the following: Economics, Geography, French, Ghanaian Language, Literature-inEnglish, Religious Studies and any other General Arts Elective and a Pass in Social Studies.          (b). BA. POLITICAL STUDIES
1.2. WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS   Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective Subjects including Government or History and any of the following: Economics, Geography, French, Ghanaian Language, Literature-inEnglish, Religious Studies and any other General Arts Elective and a Pass in Social Studies.
1.3. A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS  Applicants must have FIVE (5) credits at O’ Level, including English Language and Mathematics, plus THREE (3) A’ Level passes including History and/or Government and any One (1) or Two (2) of the following: Economics, Geography, French, Religious Studies and Ghanaian Language.  Applicants must also have a pass in General Paper.
1.4. MATURE APPLICANTS  Applicants should be a least 25 years at the time of submitting the Application.  EITHER FIVE (5) credits at O’ Level, including Mathematics and English Language, History and/or Government,  OR WASSCE/SSSCE credits in THREE (3) Core Subjects plus credits in THREE (3) Elective Subjects including: Government and/or History.  Applicants must also pass a written examination and an interview.
2.0. BA. GEOGRAPHY AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT
2.1. WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS   Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective Subjects including Geography, (At A1-B3) and any TWO (2) of the following: Economics, Government, French, English Literature, Religious Studies, History, Elective Mathematics and Akan.
2.2. A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS
Applicants must have FIVE (5) Credits at the O’ Level, including English Language and Mathematics, plus THREE (3) A’ Level Passes including Geography and TWO (2) other Subjects from the following: History, French, English, Akan, Religious Studies, Elective Mathematics and Economics. They must also obtain a pass in General Paper.
2.3. MATURE APPLICANTS  Applicants should be at least 25 years at the time of submitting the Application Form. EITHER FIVE (5) Credits at O’ Level, including English and Mathematics. OR WASSCE/SSSCE credits in THREE (3) Core Subjects English, Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science, and credits in THREE (3) Elective Subjects including Geography. Applicants must pass a written examination and an interview.
2.4. BA CULTURE AND TOURISM
2.5. WASSCE/ SSSCE APPLICANTS Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective subjects from any of the following groupings:  i. General Arts:  Geography, Economics, Government, English Language, History, Religious Studies, French and Ghanaian Language.  ii. Visual Art: General Knowledge in Art, Picture Making and or/Graphic Design, Textiles, Sculpture and Leather Work.  iii. Business: Economics, Accounting, Introduction to Business Management, Business Mathematics and Principles of Costing, and Elective Mathematics.  iv. Vocational/Home Economics: General Knowledge in Art, Management in Living, Food and Nutrition, Clothing and Textiles.  v. Science: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. 2.6. A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS  FIVE (5) Credits at O’ Level, including Mathematics, and English Language, plus passes in any THREE (3) A’ Level Subjects relevant to the Programme, including Geography. Applicants must also have a pass in General Paper.  2.7. MATURE APPLICANTS   Applicants should be at least 25 years at the time of submitting the Application Form.                                          EITHER      FIVE (5) credits at the O’ Level, including Mathematics, and English Language.        Credit passes in THREE (3) relevant Elective Subjects, including Geography.  Applicants must pass a written examination and an interview.
3.0. BA. ENGLISH  3.1. WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS  Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective Subjects including Literature-in-English, and any TWO (2) of the following Elective Subjects: French, History, Government, Economics, Geography, Akan, Religious Studies, and any other General Arts Elective.  3.2. A’LEVEL APPLICANTS  Applicants must have FIVE (5) credits at O’ Level, including English and Mathematics, plus THREE (3) A’ Level Passes, including Literature-in-English and TWO (2) other Subjects from the following: History, French, English, Akan, Religious Studies and Economics. They must also obtain a pass in General Paper.  3.3. MATURE APPLICANTS  Applicants should be at least 25 years at the time of submitting the application.
EITHER FIVE (5) Credits at O’ Level, including English Language, Mathematics and Literature-in English.                                                                    OR WASSCE/SSSCE credits in Three (3) Core Subjects (English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science), plus credits in THREE (3) Elective Subjects including Literature-inEnglish, and any TWO (2) of the following: French, History, Economics, Government, Religious Studies, Geography and any other General Arts Elective. Applicants must also pass a written examination and an interview.
4.0. BA. MODERN LANGUAGES         (a). BA. FRENCH
4.1. WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS  Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective Subjects one of which shall be French (at Grade A1B3) and any two from the following:  History, Religious Studies, Economics, Geography, Government, Literature-in-English, Business Management, Ghanaian Language and any other General Arts Elective.         (b). BA. AKAN    Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective Subjects one of which shall be Akan (at Grade A1B3) and any two from the following:  History, Religious Studies, Economics, Geography, Government, Literature-in-English, Business Management, Ghanaian Language and any other General Arts Elective.
4.2. A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS Applicants must have FIVE (5) credits at O’ Level, including English and Mathematics, plus THREE (3) A’ Level passes, including French and/or Akan, and any TWO (2) of the following Subjects: Literature-in-English, Economics, Geography, Government, History, Business Management, any other Ghanaian Language, and Religious Studies. They must also have a pass in General Paper.
4.3. MATURE APPLICANTS  Applicants must be at least 25 years at the time of submitting the Application Form. EITHER FIVE (5) Credits at the O’ Level, including English and Mathematics, French and/or Akan. OR WASSCE/SSSCE credits in THREE (3) Core Subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science), plus credits  in THREE (3) relevant Elective Subjects including French and/or Akan and any ONE (1) or TWO (2) of the following: History, Literature-in English, Economics, Government, Religious Studies, Business Management, Geography, Ghanaian Language and any other General Arts Elective.  Applicants must also pass a written examination and an interview.
5.0. (a). BA. SOCIOLOGY         (b). BA. SOCIAL WORK
5.1. WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS  Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective Subjects, including any ONE of the following: History, Geography, Literature-in-English, French, Ghanaian Language, Government, Business Management, Elective Mathematics, Economics and Religious Studies.
5.2. A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS  FIVE (5) credits at O’ Level, including English and Mathematics, plus THREE (3) A’ Level passes, including any of the following: Government, Religious Studies, History, Economics, Literature-in-English, French, Ghanaian Language and Elective Mathematics. They must also have a pass in General Paper.
5.3. MATURE APPLICANTS Applicants should be at least 25 years at the time of submitting the Application. EITHER FIVE (5) credits at the ‘O Level including English and Mathematics OR WASSCE/SSSCE credits in THREE (3) Core Subjects: (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science), plus THREE (3) Elective Subjects. Applicants must pass a written examination and an interview.
5.4. Diploma Holders  Candidates must possess Diploma in Social Work/Social Administration and any other relevant Diploma from an accredited university or Institution. Applicant must pass a written examination and interview. Such candidates would be admitted into the second year of the Programme
6.0. BA. RELIGIOUS STUDIES
6.1. WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS     Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective Subjects, including Religious Studies and any TWO (2) General Arts Subjects.
6.2. A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS     Applicants must have FIVE (5) credits at O’ Level, including, English and Mathematics, plus a minimum of THREE (3) A’ Level passes including Religious Studies and any TWO (2) of the following: History, English Literature, French, Economics, Government and Geography and Ghanaian Languages-Akan, Ewe, Ga.
6.3. MATURE APPLICANTS     Applicants should be at least 25 years at the time of submitting the Application. EITHER FIVE (5) credits at the O’ Level including English and Mathematics OR Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective Subjects including Religious Studies and any TWO (2) General Arts subjects. Applicants must pass a written examination and an interview. Diploma in Religious Studies, Theology with Grade Pass “B” or better from an Accredited University or Theological Seminary may be admitted to second year of the Programme after a successful entrance examination and an interview.
7.0. BA.  ECONOMICS
7.1. WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS  Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective Subjects including Economics and Elective Mathematics, plus any One (1) of the following: History, Geography, Government, French, Literature-in-English, Ghanaian Language, Business Management, Costing and Accounting. Applicants must have a minimum of grade C/B3 in Economics.
7.2. A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS  FIVE (5) credits at O’ Level, including English and Mathematics, plus a minimum of TWO (2) A’ Level passes, including Economics and any of the following: Geography, French, Literature-in-English, Business Management, History, Government etc. Applicants must also have a pass in General Paper.
7.3. MATURE APPLICANTS             Applicants must be at least 25 years at the time of submitting the application. EITHER FIVE (5) credits at the O’ Level, including Economics, English and Mathematics  OR Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective Subjects including Economics and Elective Mathematics plus any ONE (1) of the following: Geography, French, Government, History, Literature-in English, and Business Management. Applicants must pass a written Examination and interview.
8.0. BACHELOR OF LAW (LLB)
8.1. WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS.  Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective Subjects in the following groups; General Arts; Business; Visual Arts or General Science
8.2. A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS    FIVE (5) credits at the O’ Level, including English Language and Mathematics, plus THREE (3) A’ Level or equivalent passes in General Science, Business, Visual Arts or General Arts.
8.3. MATURE APPLICANTS;  Applicants should be at least 25 years at the time of submitting the application. EITHER FIVE (5) O’ Level subjects including English Language, and Mathematics. OR WASSCE/SSSCE Credits in THREE (3) Core Subjects, English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus credits in THREE (3) Elective Subjects in General Arts, Science, Visual Arts and Business.
Short-listed Applicants shall take an entrance examination and pass an interview. Applicants in this category will be required to pursue the Programme for Four (4) Years.
Category II       a.   Full-Time Applicants Holders of first degree and/or higher degree in any discipline:  Applicants with the above qualification in any discipline may apply. Short-listed applicants shall take an entrance examination and pass an interview.  Applicants in category ii (a) will be required to pursue the Programme for Four (4) years. Mature applicants with Diploma with more than Ten (10) years working experience may apply under this category.
9.0. BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
9.1. (a) BSC. BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (HUMAN RESOURCE               MANAGEMENT/MANAGEMENT)        (b) BSC. BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MARKETING/INTERNATIONAL                BUSINESS)
9.2. WASSCE APPLICANTS  Credit Passes in THREE (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies, and Three (3) Elective Subjects in the following groups; Business, General Arts, General Science, and Vocational/Home Economics.
9.3. A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS  FIVE (5) credits at the O’ Level including English Language and Mathematics, plus THREE (3) A’ Level or equivalent passes in General Arts, Business, and General Science.
9.4. OTHER APPLICANTS  i. Applicants holding the General Business Certificate (GBCE) and/or Advanced Business Certificate (ABCE) must have credits in at least SIX (6) subjects including English Language and Business Mathematics at the GBCE, or THREE (3) passes  in the relevant Compulsory Subjects Plus THREE (3) Optional Subjects at the ABCE.   ii. Applicants holding any of the Stages of ACCA, ICA, ACIB or CIM, must in addition have credits at WASSCE/SSSCE in THREE (3) Core Subjects and THREE  Electives or FIVE (5) credits at the O’ Level including English Language and Mathematics. Applicants in this category are admitted into Year One.  iii. Applicants holding HND with Second Class (Lower Division) and above must in addition have credits at WASSCE/SSSCE in THREE (3) Core subjects and THREE (3) Electives or FIVE (5) credits at O’ level including English language and mathematics. These applicants would be placed in either Year Two (2) or Year Three (3) after passing an entrance examination/interview.
9.5. MATURE APPLICANTS Applicants must be 25 years at the time of submitting the application. EITHER FIVE (5) credits in O’ Level including English Language and Mathematics  OR Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective Subjects in Business, General Arts, General Science, and Vocational/Home Economics.   Short-listed applicants may take an Entrance Examination and pass an interview.
10.0. (a) BSC. BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (ACCOUNTING/BANKING AND                  FINANCE)          (b) BSC. BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN               MANAGEMENT/BUSINESS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY)
10.1. WASSCE APPLICANTS  Credit Passes in THREE (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies, and Three (3) Elective Subjects in the following groups; Business, General Arts, and General Science.
10.2. A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS  FIVE (5) credits at the O’ Level including English Language and Mathematics, plus THREE (3) A’ Level or equivalent passes in General Arts, Business, and General Science.
10.3. OTHER APPLICANTS  i. Applicants holding the General Business Certificate (GBCE) and/or Advanced Business Certificate (ABCE) must have credits in at least SIX (6) subjects including English Language and Business Mathematics at the GBCE, or THREE (3) passes  in the relevant Compulsory Subjects Plus THREE (3) Optional Subjects at the ABCE.   ii. Applicants holding any of the Stages of ACCA, ICA, ACIB or CIM, must in addition have credits at WASSCE/SSSCE in THREE (3) Core Subjects and THREE  Electives or FIVE (5) credits at the O’ Level including English Language and Mathematics. Applicants in this category are admitted into Year One.  iii. Applicants holding HND with Second Class (Lower Division) and above must in addition have credits at WASSCE/SSSCE in THREE (3) Core subjects and THREE (3) Electives or FIVE (5) credits at O’ level including English language and mathematics. These applicants would be placed in either Year Two (2) or Year Three (3) after passing an entrance examination/interview.
10.4. MATURE APPLICANTS Applicants must be 25 years at the time of submitting the application. EITHER FIVE (5) credits in O’ Level including English Language and Mathematics  OR Credit passes in THREE (3) Elective Subjects in Business, General Arts, and General Science.
Short-listed applicants may take an Entrance Examination and pass an interview.
11.0. BSC. HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT
11.1. WASSCE APPLICANTS  Credit Passes in THREE (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies, and Three (3) Elective Subjects in the following groups; Business, General Arts, General Science, and Vocational/Home Economics.
