TF’s reputation is far from sterling but whatever minimally impressive positioning it had is being drained away by the ever growing mindfulness of its inhabitants who are constantly frustrated by the horrible state of their water supply and refuse to have their consciences bargained away so cheaply.
TFs leadership is intermittently disappointing the regulars of the hall who can no longer confidently call it a home-at-school. Last year, exorbitant prices in electricity bills drove many to re-align their allegiance flocking to the diaspora where accommodation seemed cheaper and more importantly came with safer water. The electricity problem was fixed with such an impressively executed managerial tactic that made us thumbs up our leadership only to wake up to the harsh reality of being presented with yet another problem, this time more life threatening.
Water is the lifeline of humanity and without it, our every activity is disrupted. We can’t possibly cook, wash or bath with such disturbingly filthy water that is so thick in color, unless cautioned may seem like something that just fell out of a Picasso.
What grinds my gears is the rise in the accommodation fees this academic year which though naturally promised more premium service has left matters blatantly despairing. TF won’t let water flow through some of our showers on the top floor and when they finally do (sometimes at dawn), we are confronted with such disease-ridden state of water supply that I tell you; will unnerve the homeless.
Ironically though, water flow suddenly opens up when visitors check into the top floors of the hall and are presented with an uninterrupted shower of foul, insanitary, untreated water. It seems…and it only seems…that TF has that awkward conviction that students and visitors appreciate dirty water.
