SRC presidential candidate, Schandorf Ayirebi Acquah Derrick has introduced his first policy statement few hours after the ban on campaigning was officially lifted.
The policy dubbed Agenda own your GPA, is something many students have been looking forward to after the grading system was reviewed under former Vice Chancellor Professor Ernest Aryeetey.
Schandorf and running mate, if elected as president and vice of the SRC of University of Ghana shall seek to introduce through advocacy the ‘Scores Transfer System’ (STS) where it will be allowed for students to transfer some scores from courses to other courses.
This way, assuming a student scores 88 in a course which is an A, he or she will be allowed to transfer the ‘redundant’ 8 after the 80 to another course to plummet that course to score a higher grade.
Already, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu has set up a committee to work on revising the grading system which a lot of students describe as ‘killer grading system’ especially those in the sciences.
