SRC President-elect of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, Mr. Emmanuel Kumah described his SRC Presidential victory, which is considered historic, as divine.
Speaking after the count of Presidential votes, which saw him establish a 210-vote gap between himself and his closest contender, an emotional Kumah said he felt his victory was divine.
I am humbled by the wonderful given me by GIJ students to serve them next academic year. I’m equally challenged to fulfill every promise i gave them. Everybody goes into a competition to expecting to win, however, I thought it was going to be a close contest. I feel it is a divine victory.” he said.
Prior to the 2018 GIJ SRC election, Mr. Emmanuel Kumah was tipped to get a massive win in the Presidential race considering the support he had from some from some influential students including Mr. Kabu Nartey (General Secretary of NUGS).
The Presidential office was contested by Orlando Tettey, Kwasi Nimo and Emmanuel Kumah and at the end of counting, they each garnered 395, 885 and 1,095 votes respectively.
Mr. Kumah’s victory has been considered as historic as no presidential candidate has been able to establish a 210-vote gap between himself and the second placed – at least, not in the last fours.
Mr. Emmanuel Kumah takes over from Mr. Martin Thompson Ntem.
