Commonwealth Hall is 60 years this year after its opening in 1957 and the Old Vandals Association made up of eminent Ghanaians have released an outline of programs for the commemoration of the anniversary which will last through 3 months.
The anniversary which is themed “60 Years Of Vandalism: The Next Chapter” will be launched on 20th April with a public lecture to be delivered by Professor Bondzi Simpson.
There will be 2 other lectures to be followed which will be delivered by the former Trade and Industry Minister under the John Mahama Administration and Ace Investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and other very interesting schedules.

Brief History Of The Hall
The first batch of students was admitted into residence in Commonwealth Hall at the beginning of the 1956-1957 academic year.
In the Lent Term of that academic year, Ghana attained its independence from Great Britain, and the Hall, hitherto known as the Third Hall , was officially christened Commonwealth Hall to commemorate Ghana’s admission into the Commonwealth of Nations.
Notable Commonwealth Hall Alumni
Notable Ghanaians have lived in the four corners of what is referred to as the Romantic Vandal City including the former President of the country, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, first deputy speaker of Ghana’s parliament, Hon. Joe Osei-Wusu, Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu, Professor Kwaku Asare, Professor H. Kwasi Prempeh, Okudjeto Ablakwah, Dr. Arthur Kobinna Kennedy.
Others are the minister of Health Hon. Agyemang Manu, former attorney general and citizen Vigilante Martin Alamisi Amidu and a host of others.
