The National Chief Imam, His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, has prayed for peace and unity for Ghana and the rest of the world.
This was when Stephen Appiah on his Peace Tour called on him at his residence on Tuesday.
Appiah who was embarking on his third visit since he commenced the Peace tour with a courtesy call on the Osu Mantse, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI told the National Imam of his plans to promote peace and unity ahead of election 2016 in Ghana.
The former Juventus midfielder, said, “I am here to inform you on my peace tour crusade aimed at promoting peace before, during and after the elections and invite you to the Vodafone Unity Match 2016 sponsored by Ghana’s leading telecommunication network, and organised by Primeval Media”.
‘Thank you for receiving us as you initially did for my testimonial match and appreciate the love shown me and this makes it right to come and share with you my plans to have invited ex-footballers to help me use football to promote peace as we all want to avoid violence before, during and after election 2016,” he added.
Sheikh Sharubutu in the company his elders welcomed Appiah and the team to his residence and thumbed up the idea of promoting peace in Ghana and the world as a whole.
“I’ve always advocated for peace I’m honoured to receive you and have poured upon you my blessings as you embark on a peaceful journey,”.
“I call for peace across the world and Ghana as a whole, yes we might be different due to language and race but we’re one and let’s join hands to promote peace.”
He added, “let’s respect each others decision, tolerate each other, forgive one another as the Holy Quran asks of us and prioritize Ghana first by showing love to one another. We’re all from the source (one generation) and let us not harm each other”.
Let’s not give violence the chance on our land. Use good language in the heated moment of political debates as we near the elections as anything that happens elsewhere has trickled down effect and as such we’ve got to learn to promote peace”.
Appiah on June 8 and 11 will lead out a world XI side in the Vodafone Unity Match 2016 as they play games against Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the Ghana Black Stars at the Kumasi and Accra Sports Stadia respectively.
