Local Government Minister, Collins Dauda, has stated that the Atebubu Amantin constituency in the Brong Ahafo region still remains a strong hold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, in spite of the mêlée surrounding the nomination of a new District Chief Executive in the area which is making the ruling party unpopular, “Atebubu Amantin still remains one of the world banks of the party”.
Collins Dauda’s comment is in reaction to a threat by some angry women to set the district assembly office ablaze, if the new government appointee, Eric Osei is confirmed.
The aggrieved women said to be supporters of the former DCE, Sampson Owusu Boateng maintained that, the new nominee will not champion their cause.
They also invoked curses on any assembly member who will vote to confirm the nominee on Tuesday May 31, 2016.
But Collins Dauda in an interview on Adom News said, they will follow the laid down procedure to confirm Mr. Eric Osei as the new DCE for Atebubu Amantin.
“No one can stop us from doing the right thing; we will follow the rules to ensure the nominee is confirmed,” he stressed.
He indicated that, the continuous opposition of his [Eric Osei] nomination is rather stalling development in the area.
The Local Government Minister expressed shock at the conduct of the people when in fact others elsewhere are clamouring for a DCE for their areas.
Collins Dauda warned anyone who will be lawless on Tuesday will face the full rigorous of the law
