About KPoly Department Of Medical Laboratory Technology

The Department of Laboratory Technology was established in 2011 to offer programmes in Higher National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology and Science and Industrial Laboratory Technology. Current trends in medical and economic developments throughout the world demand corresponding evolutionary changes in our educational and training programs.

The programme’s goal is to produce technologists capable of carrying out various scientific laboratory analysis and practical work. The course content is intended to produce technicians who will perform the job function of a scientific and research assistant, a quality control officer, a laboratory professional and marketing agent.

The vision of the Department is to become a centre of excellence in the training of Laboratory personnel.

Objectives

The main objective of the program is to provide the students with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of scientific laboratory technology practices.
The specific objectives are;

To train skilled laboratory technologists to carry out medical laboratory tests, experiments and analyses to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.

To equip the students with the necessary knowledge and skills in the use and maintenance of modern laboratory equipment.

To work in and/or manage laboratories of educational institutions and science based industries

To manage quality control and product development units in industries
