About Ghana Technology University College School Of Business

The College has its roots in Ghana Telecom’s flagship Training Centre, which was one of a kind in West Africa. It was first used as a Royal Air Force (RAF) Training School during the Second World War and subsequently handed to Cable and Wireless to train Telecommunications Technicians for British West African Countries ( i.e., Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia).
The Training Centre progressed rapidly through deregulation and privatization to become the main source of teaching and certification in Telecommunications Engineering for Ghana Telecom employees as well as other institutions in Ghana and West Africa..
In 2005, Ghana Telecom’s management upgraded the infrastructure and equipment to modern standards in preparation for converting the training centre into a university for telecommunication and multimedia engineering & information technology.

Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) is a new university for the new Ghana. The Ghana of today is rich with tradition and culture, and with talented men and women who have been shaped by this heritage.
The new Ghana, the Ghana that has decided to join the global economy, has to help its citizens develop the skills and knowledge they need to take part in the new economy. GTUC is dedicated to this mission. The new economy is a knowledge economy, a globalized network economy made possible by the new information and communication technologies (ICTs). For Ghanaian organizations to operate successfully in this economy they need mid- and high-level professionals who can plan, organize, operate, maintain and manage these telecommunication and ICT-based services.
The graduates of GTUC’s certificate and degree programs possess the theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience that equips them for successful careers in the telecommunication and ICT industries, and as ICT professionals in any Ghanaian business or organization needing ICT talent. The focus on preparing graduates for the Engineering and ICT professions is the hallmark of GTUC.
Like all universities, however, it is committed research and public service, and as part of its leadership commitment it explores ways to accelerate the use of the new technologies to bring jobs and incomes to households in Ghana and beyond. The university has established three core faculties: Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Informatics and Faculty of IT Business. All faculties offer programmes at the certificate, degree, and post-graduate level. Credits earned in a certificate programme are applicable to the bachelor’s degree programme, and bachelor’s degree programmes prepare students for post-graduate study. Programmes at every level prepare students for meaningful and rewarding careers that contribute to the nation’s economic growth and social well-being.
