Information available to LegonConnect indicates that the SRC President of UG, Davis Ohene Fobi, has sacked the Programs and Projects committee head of the SRC and is acting in his stead. The reason for the sack is not yet clear to reporters, but information available indicates that the now former committee head was not present at the General Assembly meeting held yesterday, where the decision was announced.
There are indications that the sack is in connection with the controversial SRC Excellence Awards. The Head of the Programs and Projects committee, which is believed to be the most active committee of the SRC, has for sometime now been in conflict with the SRC president over many issues, especially on the SRC Awards. The situation got worse after some revelations were made on Radio Univers and on Social media platforms to indicate that some hands were twisting the scheme to their favour.
This harsh decision comes barely three days to the handing over of the Fobi led administration to the new Esinam led administration. Most of the core members of the current administration are however of the view that the decision of the president is uncalled for and needless.
The victim of this hard decision, Nana Agyemang Emmanuel, affectionately called Daakyehene, thinks the decision of his boss is not fair. According to him, he has been very hardworking and committed from day one, and he has made a lot of sacrifices for the SRC. He maintained that he has been staunch in ensuring that the SRC Awards is devoid of manipulation, being an individual who believes in integrity. The former head of the P & P committee stated that life doesn’t end at Legon, and so no one should pity him because he is not perturbed. He added that he is grateful to God and loved ones, and he is happy that he is completing Legon.
