The Management of Ghana Hostels Limited in the University of Ghana has released the fees for the 2016/2017 academic year and the prices are very high.
Pentagon, as it is most popularly known, is notorious for its relatively exhorbitant prices. Futhermore, the high incidence of water and power problems have made their prices even more ridiculous for students living in the hostel.
In 2011, the privately owned hostel complex was given the name African Union Hall and was officially granted hall status; a move that many believed was intended to curb the situation of high fees. This hasn’t been the case as their prices have remained the most expensive in the University.
The cheapest room option this year is 4 people in one room in Old Pent which is going for GHC 2000 and the most expensive being GHC 14,000 for One person (foreign student) in an air-conditioned room.
