MSFS Scholarship for Ghanaian Students

Georgetown University is offering full tuition scholarship for sub-Saharan African students to pursue master program (Master of Science in Foreign Service). Students will take courses in international relations, international trade, international finance, statistics and analytical tools, and history. In addition, students choose an area of concentration such as Global Politics and Security, International Development, or Global Business and Finance.
The Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) is a professional master’s degree in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Its goal is to prepare women and men to be creative leaders in the public, private and non-profit sectors of international affairs.
The minimal TOEFL score for admissions is 600 for the paper exam, 250 for the computer exam, and 100 for the internet-based test. The minimum IELTS score for admissions is 7.0. Students who are admitted with this minimum requirement may still be required to take an enrichment course in English over the summer if the committee has concerns about their preparedness to perform in an English-language graduate program.

Eligibility: Application requirements include:

  • A TOEFL score of at least 100, or an IELTS score of at least 7.0.Special consideration will be given to applicants  Ivory Coast, , Kenya,, , and South Africa.
  • Special consideration will be given to applicants from: Ivory Coast, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa.
  • A completed undergraduate degree from an accredited university and a strong academic record;
  • Completion of a course in microeconomics and a course in macroeconomics, or ability to complete both courses beforeAugust 1 of their matriculating year;
  • Professional work experience, ideally in a field related to their future professional goals. Students have an average of four years of work experience prior to joining MSFS.

NationalityStudents of sub-Saharan African (Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (Democratic Republic), Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe) can apply for this scholarship.

Entrance Requirement: Applicant must have a completed undergraduate degree from an accredited university and a strong academic record
Test Requirement: Applicants must submit one set of standardized test scores:
Either
A) Applicants with a bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited college/university where English is the language of instruction must submit either the GRE or GMAT. The exceptions to this rule are as follows: Georgetown MSFS/JD applicants may submit the LSAT in lieu of the GRE or GMAT, and BSFS/MSFS as well as BSBA/MSFS applicants do not need to submit either the GRE or the GMAT.

B) Applicants who do not have a bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited college/university where English is the language of instruction must submit the TOEFL (minimum internet-based score 100) or IELTS (minimum score 7.0).
Masters Scholarships
How to ApplyTo be considered for the scholarship, applicants must submit all required application materials (online application, personal statement, official transcripts and test scores, letters of recommendation).
Application Deadline: The application deadline for fall 2017 is January 15, 2017.
