The New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency in the Upper West Region, Dr. R.D. Boye Bandie, has stepped down five months to the November polls.
Reports indicate that an official letter Dr. Bandie presented to party executives said he stepped down on health grounds.
The Upper West Regional Secretary of the NPP, Haffiz Bin Salih confirmed the development to Citi News.
He said Dr. Boye has officially expressed his intention to them, but a committee is yet to consider the application.
Dr. Bandie was elected in the NPP’s primary in 2015.
He was expected to face veteran lawmaker and incumbent National Democratic Congress MP, Alban Bagbin, in the general elections.
Alban Bagbin has been in Parliament since 1992 on the ticket of the NDC.
