Sefako Makgatho University Graduation 2018, Years of burning the midnight oil will be rewarded for the students of the SMU as they will be taking to the stage to be awarded their degrees at the graduations ceremonies which will be held on three consecutive days, from 9 to 11 May 2018, Sports Complex, Ga-Rankuwa, Pretoria, from 9h30 to 12h30. Members of the media are cordially invited to cover this prestigious occasion of SMU, the only comprehensive health sciences university in the country. The details of the graduations ceremonies are:

The highlights of the occasion will be the key note addresses, on Wednesday 9 May 2018, by Dr Pradish Rampersadh, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP).
On Thursday 10 May, Mrs Tlhalefi T Tlhowe, School of Nursing Science, North-West University (NWU), Potchefstroom Campus and part time operational Manager at the Job Shimankane Tabane Mental Health Unit, will take to the podium to impart her insights and experiences to the new health care professionals.
The last day of the graduations ceremony, Friday 11 May 2018, the World renowned Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, Chairperson of the Gift of the Givers, the largest disaster relief Non-Government Organisation (NGO), will also address the captive audience attending the graduation ceremony of the schools of medicine and oral health sciences.
In the school of science and technology, 10 BSc Students will be awarded their degrees cum laude (their names are in the attached programmes of the graduation ceremonies). Two doctors of philosophy degrees will be awarded, one in statistics and in Zoology (names are also in the attached programmes).
The School of Health Care Sciences will award 1 BSc Pharmacy Degree (B Pharm) cum laude. 1 Masters Degree in Pharmacy will be awarded cum laude. 8 students will receive PhDs in Nursing Science. 1 student will receive PhD in Physiotherapy. 3 will receive their PhDs in Public Health.

In the School of Medicine, 8 students will receive their Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) cum laude. 1 Master of Medicine cum laude. The following students were awarded prizes for outstanding performance – Tondai Denga, Nyarandzo Rumhuma and Johan Steyn.
