Holy Family Nurses Training College – Nkawkaw

THE HOLY FAMILY NURSES TRAINING COLLEGE – NKAWKAW was founded by the SSpS as an Enrolled Nursing School in November 1974. The First Principal was Sr. Donna, SSpS. The school served a very useful purpose. But due to changes in policy by the Government a team of the M.O.H. and the National Catholic Secretariat inspected the school and made suggestions and recommendations that SRN training be considered for Nkawkaw. The EN school was originally at the present Administrative block. With the help of CEBEMO, the church built the fine block we see for the EN training to be moved into.
With the cancellation of the EN programme the SRN training was to start with effect from 3rd September 1983 by the Registrar of the Nurses and Midwives Council at that time the late Miss WALTER-HOLTZ of Blessed memory. It is worthy to note that Dr. Moses Adibo, Rev Sr. Ancilla then Executive Secretary of DOH at that time, Miss Mary Kissiedu, former Executive Sec CHAG, Sr. Donna the first Principal are to be commended for their hard work with the full support of Emeritus Archbishop Andoh who was the then Archbishop.
The following after Sr. Donna the first Principal have held the Principalship. The second Principal was Mrs. Angelina Amponsah and the present is Ms Annie Appoh.
It belongs to the church and administered by the church in cooperation with the M.O.H & N & M Council.
