COBES
The COBES programme was established six years ago as the flagship programme of the UCC School of Medical Sciences. It assists in training doctors to empathize with community needs and therefore become relevant to the people they serve. The programme is innovative, community-based, problem solving, student-centred, and gives the students strong community orientation which serves to increased their awareness of the role of social, cultural and environmental factors in health, and the relationship between health and development.
The broad objectives of the programme include providing a broad-based people-centred education, training student doctors to deal with the ethical and moral problems confronting the community and inculcation of research consciousness in our trainees.
