R.E: S.K Amoah Withdraws From The 2016/2017 SRC Presidential Race

by Israel Boafo Bansah

We published a story on Monday the 29th day of February 2016 about the withdrawal of S.K Amoah from the SRC presidential contest of University of Ghana. The story was fueled by an email we received on Saturday the 27th day of February 2016 which turned out to be false. We tried contacting the candidate but to no avail. We went ahead to publish the said statement since it was sent through an email address with his full name.
We only got to know about the untrue nature of the statement after he S.K Amoah, took to his facebook timeline to respond to the publication on our platform ( www.legonconnect.com ) and reaffirmed his desire to contest and serve the students of University of Ghana.
We sincerely apologize to him S.K Amoah, his team and all his followers for any inconvenience that the story might have caused them. We wish them all the best in the upcoming contest in the premier university of Ghana.
Below is the full response from him (S.K Amoah)
RE: S.K AMOAH WITHDRAWS FROM THE 2016/2017 SRC PRESIDENTIAL RACE.
My attention has been drawn to a publication featured on an online news portal “legonconnect” claiming my withdrawal from the SRC presidential race.
I wish to state emphatically and categorically that I have not withdrawn or reconsidered my stance on running for the Presidency of our dear council.
Such a damning statement will only come from the employ of unscrupulous and malicious persons who are frightened and feel uncomfortable with my candidature.
The email account linked to the statement is alien to me since it is not my email address. The statement should therefore be treated with all the contempt it deserves since it lacks any truth. My only and official email address is : kwekusherif@yahoo.com.
On this note, I wish to reassure students of the university community, my team members and all well wishers that I am still in the race. We should not be affected by this malicious fabrication but rather, we should be thankful to the framers since they have indirectly helped in publicizing our cause.
Let’s all remain resolute and poised for the task ahead.
Thank you all.
