"I Am 90% Sure The NSS allowance Would Be Increased"- Kpesa-Whyte

by Calvin Gyasi

The Man at the helm of affairs at the National Service Scheme, Dr. Kpesa-Whyte has responded to the many calls by National Service personnel for an upward adjustment in the monthly allowance.
In response to a question posed by Bernard Avle on the Ghana Report show on Viasat 1, the National Service boss stated that he was 80-90% sure there is going to be a quantum leap in the National Service allowance.
“Talks and plans are far advanced with the ministry of finance” he explained, “the service year starts from September whiles the budget year starts from January”. Therefore the entire year’s budget takes effect from January. Therefore a new budget for next year is most likely to address the allowance increment requests by Service personnel.
Many National Service Personnel have complained and still complain of the inadequacy of the allowance being given by the Secretariat in the light of increased cost of living and inflation in the country.
Many personnel have petitioned the Secretariat, the ministry of Finance and the President. Even on social media many requests have been made through the #increaseNSSallowa.
